The Portland Clean Energy Initiative is a program to create community-owned renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions. The initiative provides an opportunity for citizens, public agencies, and businesses to work together through the development of renewables such as solar, wind, hydropower, or bioenergy.

The goal of the project is to use fewer fossil fuels by reducing our dependence on them and supporting renewable sources like solar panels. This will help us lower greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.
Portland’s Climate Action Plan sets targets for reducing greenhouse gases in order to meet its obligations under the Paris Agreement: 80% reductions below 1990 levels by 2050.
